Recycling and environmental responsibility

At MIIEGO, we strive to conduct business responsibly and with consideration for our surroundings.

This includes ensuring that our products are functional, robust, durable, and of high quality. They must be able to withstand use and spread positive energy and joy for a long time. This is part of our DNA and what has driven us from the very beginning.

When we develop our products, we never stop improving and refining them. We believe that even small details and minor changes can make a big difference. The same applies to our approach to the environment. We cannot do everything at once, but we can all do a little.

Here, we have chosen to focus on reducing plastic consumption. We are not there yet, but we have taken the first steps.

So far, we have achieved the following:

Plastic-free and recyclable packaging
The first step we took was to phase out the use of plastic in our packaging. In 2021, we reached a significant and important milestone, as all our packaging was - and still is - made from plastic-free, recyclable material.

Support for responsible disposal
Since 2020, MIIEGO has been a member of the non-profit organization Dansk EL-retur to support their work in collecting and managing end-of-life electronic equipment for environmentally responsible disposal.

RE:DUCE by MIIEGO - a new product series with less plastic
In 2022, we launched RE:DUCE by MIIEGO. A new product series where the amount of plastic in the products has been reduced and partially replaced with wheat straw fibers – a natural byproduct of wheat production.

Products' lifespan must be utilized and extended
MIIEGO products are designed with functionality and durability as top priorities. This means, among other things, that several of our speakers and all headphones can withstand water, sweat, and dust to varying degrees. Additionally, the ear pads on most MIIEGO headphones can be replaced, and several of them can even be washed. This way, you don't have to discard your headphones and buy new ones just because the pads are worn out. These are all details that help utilize and extend the products' lifespan.

ABOUT WHEAT STRAW FIBRES – A NATURAL BY-PRODUCT

Wheat straw feels like plastic and lasts for a very long time. It is made from the leftover stalks after grain harvesting. The stalks are processed into a pulp, which is then used as a raw material for making bioplastic, for example. Wheat straw is a by-product that is often burned after the wheat grains have been harvested. By using wheat straw instead of plastic, we are therefore recycling a by-product and at the same time reducing the use of plastic, which benefits the environment.

Information on recycling and disposal of used batteries and electronic equipment

Electrical and electronic equipment and the batteries included with them contain materials, components, and substances that can be harmful to human health and the environment if the waste is not handled correctly.

Electrical and electronic equipment and batteries are marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol. This symbol indicates that electrical and electronic equipment and batteries must not be disposed of with unsorted household waste but must be collected separately.

As an end-user, it is important that you hand in your used batteries to the established schemes. In this way, you help ensure that the batteries are recycled in accordance with legislation and do not unnecessarily burden the environment.

All municipalities have established collection schemes where discarded electrical and electronic equipment and portable batteries can be handed in free of charge by citizens at recycling centres and other collection points – or are collected directly from households. Further information can be obtained from the municipal technical administration.
